Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Murchison falls national park via Ziwa rhino sanctuary
Depending on your location, you will be picked up by our company representative/ driver who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Murchison falls national park. On the way, you will have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino trekking experience.
After the activity you will have en-route lunch and then connect to Murchison falls national park and upon arrival you will drive to the top of the falls where you will enjoy great views of the waterfall. From the top of the falls, connect to your lodge to rest. Dinner and overnight stay Parkside safari lodge-budget or Pakuba safari lodge-midrange
Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
After an early breakfast on the second day of the 8 days Uganda primates and wildlife safari your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive where you will be rewarded with great views of animals like buffaloes, Uganda kobs, Oribi, elephants, waterbucks, bushbucks, warthogs, Jacksons hartebeest, giraffes among others which will be grazing in the open plains, predators like hyenas, lions, leopards, different bird species among others. After the game drive you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will go for an exciting boat cruise to the bottom of the falls where you will be able to spot large herds of hippos in water, Nile crocodiles basking on the banks, view other animals like elephants, buffaloes, warthogs drinking water along the shores, view water birds among others. After the boat ride which takes about 2 to 3 hours you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight as above.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale forest national park
After breakfast on the third day of the 8 days Uganda primates and wildlife safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kibale national park also known as the primate capital. On the way you will have en-route lunch, stopovers to take pictures, stretch your legs and enjoy stunning views of the beautiful scenery, Rwenzori mountain ranges, Lake George, crater lakes, tea plantations among others. Upon arrival in Kibale national park you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Kibale forest lodge-budget or Chimpanzee guest house-midrange
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
After an early breakfast on the fourth day of the 8 days Uganda primates and wildlife safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kanyachu visitors Centre for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing you will start trekking in the forest in search of the habituated chimpanzee family. During the trekking you will be able to view other primate species like red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, grey checked baboon, view different bird species, tree species among others. Once the chimpanzees under habituation are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to observe their behaviors, habits, watch them feed, breastfeed, hunt, play, fight, mate, rest, take photos and record the moments to show people back home after the safari.
After the one hour with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will check out of the lodge and start the journey to Queen Elizabeth national park and on the way you will enjoy stunning views of the beautiful scenery, crater lakes, Rwenzori mountain ranges, tea plantations among others. Upon arrival in Queen Elizabeth national park you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Queen Elizabeth safari lodge-budget or Elephant hab –midrange
Day 5: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
On the fifth day of the 8 days Uganda primates and wildlife safari, you will have an early breakfast and your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for an adventurous game drive in Kasenyi plains. During the game drive you will be able to view animals like elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, warthogs, predators like lions, leopards, variety of bird species among others. After the game drive you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will go for an interesting boat cruise on Kazinga channel a water channel that joins Lake George and Lake Edward. During the scheduled boat cruise which starts at 2:00pm, you will be able to enjoy stunning views of the beautiful scenery, landscape, view animals like elephants, warthogs, buffaloes, waterbucks at a close range drinking water along the banks, view large concentrations of hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, aquatic bird species among other. After the boat cruise, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight as above.
Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
After breakfast on the sixth day of the 8 days Uganda primates and wildlife safari, you will check out of the lodge and your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park. You will have a stopover at Ishasha sector where you will be able to view the tree climbing lions which will be lying up in acacia/ fig tree branches if you are lucky. After the game drive you will have en-route lunch and then proceed to Bwindi impenetrable national park and upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Ruhija gorilla mist camp-midrange or Broadbill forest camp-budget
Day 7: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
After an early breakfast on the seventh day of the 8 days Uganda primates and wildlife safari you will carry packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during trekking. After the briefing you will start trekking in the jungle which takes about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on where the gorillas are located because they like to move from place to place in search of food. During trekking you will be able to view other primate species, view variety of birds, different plant species among others. Once the mountain gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, breastfeeding, playing, observe their behaviors, habits, take photos and record the breathtaking moments.
After the one hour encounter with the gentle giants you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking, meet up with your driver guide and start the journey to Lake Bunyonyi which takes about 2 to 3 hours’ drive. Lake Bunyonyi is the deepest lake in Uganda located in Kabale district. Upon arrival you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Arcadia cottages-midrange or Bunyonyi eco resort-budget
Day 8: Boat cruise and departure to Kampala
After an early breakfast on the last day of the safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to go for an interesting boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi where you will be able to explore some of the 29 islands, view different bird species, animals, enjoy great views of the terraced farmlands, beautiful scenery among others among others.
After the boat cruise you will meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kampala with en-route lunch on the way. Upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of advise.
